PPT2Flash Pro 4.5 has been released for few days. Our developers have made great efforts to improve the conversion quality, especially for animations and transitions. At the same time, we care much about the output file size. You see much smoother animations and transitions with smaller file size. The optimized conversion process also shortens the conversion time. You may experience those great feature with the trial version. Today, I here to give you some tips of how to further reduce the file size, if you really care about it.

First things first, we should know what kind of PowerPoint presentations are suit for the tips I will introduce here. Presentations with a great of images and sounds are what I’m talking about in this article. To reduce the output file size, we need to degrade the quality of images and sounds, but don’t worry, I think the quality loss is acceptable.

For users who only have one version of PowerPoint installed on their computer.

Open your presentation with PowerPoint, then go to PPT2Flash menu, Settings (or Publish Settings) menu, Output tab, Image Quality, drag the slider to left a little, this will reduce the image quality. Then, Audio tab, enable “Custom” (if you don’t do this, the program will keep the original audio properties), change “Sample rate” to 22050, and “Bitrate” to 64. Most audios you inserted to PowerPoint with 44100Hz sample rate and 128kps bitrate. The settings may cause sound quality loss, but, usually, if the original file are not HI-FI audios, the loss is definitely acceptable. (If you were an audiophile and the playback device is in HI-FI quality, you may not like to do this). Generally, the above settings may cause your file size reduce 50%!

For users who have PowerPoint 2003 and 2007 installed on their computer

This tip is good for presentations created by PowerPoint 2007. Please save the PowerPoint 2007 presentations to 2003 first. Then open the presentation with 2003. Follow the instructions above. Publish your presentation under PowerPoint 2003. This does not mean PPT2Flash 4.5 works poorly with PowerPoint 2007, but, 2007 does not provide us enough information that tells the format and transperancy of images. Therefore, the program converts all images to .PNG -24 (only this format allows transperant background, but larger than .JPEG) format, not matter what the original format is. But 2003 is different, we can get enough information to convert images in smallest size. Our developers are doing their best to solve the problem. It will be improved in the later version.

Download the free trial version of PPT2Flash Professional 4.5, and have a try yourself. You will get more fun with it. Good luck!~
